Just found this out and we are all so sad......

Our sweet elderly neighbors who live catty corner across the street from us have been so great. They sit on their porch nearly every day.....they wave, say hi, and talk to the girls'. When anything might be going on in the neighborhood we would always end up in their yard chatting. "Shorty", (the sweet little old ladies nickname) is always bringing us home baked cookies. They took in our neighbors, the ones right next door while their house was on fire last year till they could find a place to stay. Last night I looked up at about 10pm and saw lots of blue and red lights flashing across the street. I went to look out my window cause I hadn't heard any sirens. There was a crowd of neighbors in the yard with Shorty and the Paramedics went inside and closed the door. I spoke with another one of our neighbors just now to see if there was anything I could do for them. She said Dean passed last night before they ever put him in the ambulance. He had been fighting the flu for 2 or 3 weeks. Lost 60 pounds over that time and was nursing a sprained ankle. He fell out of bed around 9pm, she called one of the guys down the street to help her get him back in bed. At 10pm he stopped breathing and she called 911 and started CPR...he never regained consciousness. The neighbor I was talking to said her husband went with Shorty to the hospital till one of her son's could get here today. Other neighbors jumped in their cars and went to the hospital too. It amazes me how our neighborhood rallies when there is a crisis. I am so saddened by his passing, he was our neighborhood's grandpa. She said they are cooking her a roast for dinner tonight. So we are making her mashed potatoes and gravy to go with it. I am praying for her peace during this time and the comfort the Lord can only bring!!!!

  1. I am sorry for the loss of your neighbor. Good neighbors are such a treasure. We've had that blessing here on Robinson too. It is beautiful to see God at work in and through you right where He planted you.
