Summer is here.....and the proof is in the ice cream

We have started off summer with a bang....the last pic is of Diva at her fifth grade graduation ceremony. They got a certificate for completing the D.A.R.E. program, a certificate of completion from the school, and Diva was one of a small handful that got a letter from the president for showing exemplary character. She won Character Counts twice this year and was on the A-B honor roll all year long. We are so very proud of her and the work she has done. Love Bug got Character counts once this year and was on the A-B honor roll all year as well....I have already requested her 2nd grade teacher, hoping to get the teacher Diva had in 2nd grade as she was wonderful! Already have Diva's recommended reading list for the summer and school year, it is filled with some really great reads too. We will participate in the library's reading program like we have been for the last several years so she can just use her list for that. The next couple of pics from the bottom up are of the girls' at their after school program's open house Friday night. Diva and her little friend in the picture sang two songs acapella and they did a great job. The other is of Love Bug in their computer lab getting ready to go play a game. And lastly we just couldn't start the summer without some refreshing ice cream which we picked up at the mall....of course Diva's favorite part was the new earrings. Now we will start enjoying picnics, the pool/swimming, and lots of trips to the park. Time to break out the bathing suits, Popsicles, the blender for smoothies, side walk chalk, and bubbles. Just some of the things we can't live without to beat the heat.....as well as fresh fruit (lots of watermelon) and sour pickles to munch on.
